Optimizada mexican farmers market

Vacationing in Riviera Nayarit Mexico gives you the chance to explore the country’s vibrant coastal culture, and when you explore a Nuevo Vallarta farmers market, you’ll find a little of everything: hand-rolled cigars, fresh produce, tropical flowers, artisanal treats, and traditional Mexican art.

Here in Mexico, a gathering of vendors with all sorts of products is called a tianguis market, and browsing the different booths on market day is a unique shopping experience connecting travelers with the local culture and economy. Whether you need some fresh ingredients for dinner or the best souvenir gifts to take home, visit a seasonal farmers market in Riviera Nayarit.

Riviera Farmers Market

Located in downtown Nuevo Vallarta, the Riviera Farmers Market opens every Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM during the high season between November and April, and with the large area behind the Nuevo Vallarta Business Center, there’s plenty of room for all the activity on market day.

At the Nuevo Vallarta farmers market, you’ll find boutique-style clothing, traditional Mexican art, cigars, and jewelry. After browsing the Mexican farmers market, take a seat in the shade to enjoy a meal from one of the local vendors while listening to the live music.

  • Open: Every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Season: Between November and April

Bucerias Market

To explore another Mexican farmers market, head north on Wednesdays between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM to the parking lot of the Chedraui grocery store in Bucerias. The Bucerias Market is filled with traditional toys, jewelry, local honey, t-shirts, wallets, fresh berries, and wall art, giving you all sorts of options for the best souvenir gifts.

For many travelers, the highlight of their shopping experience at this Mexico beach farmers market is the food. Once your bags are full, grab one of the big burritos, tamales, choripan, or Italian dishes.

  • Open on: Wednesdays between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM

La Cruz Farmers Market

The La Cruz Farmers Market is the biggest tianguis market in Riviera Nayarit Mexico, its seemingly endless row of booths wrapping around the marina and docks in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Their market day is every Sunday between November and April, and it’s open between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This seasonal farmers market offers a little of everything, including apparel made for dogs with traditional Mexican art, beauty products made with natural ingredients, and sweet sun-dried mango.

One of the unique aspects of this Mexican farmers market is the workshops with crafts and games for kids to enjoy. There’s also live music and dance performances as well as freshly grilled food to complete your shopping experience.

  • Open on: Sunday between 9:00 am to 2:0 pm
  • Season: Between November and April

San Pancho

San Pancho is a popular surfing town in Riviera Nayarit Mexico, and if you’re planning a day trip here, go on Tuesdays when the market is open from 10 AM to 1:30 PM during the tourist season from November to April. While it’s not the biggest Mexico beach farmers market, it has products unique to this small town that you won’t find anywhere else and that make the best souvenir gifts.

Fill your bag with homemade salsa, purses made with traditional textiles, and clothes that are perfect for a beach vacation. After visiting the tianguis market, stroll the cobblestone streets of San Pancho, and bury your toes in the sand while sipping a margarita.

  • Open on: Tuesday from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm
  • Season: From November to April

Sayulita

Sayulita is located just down the road from San Pancho, and it has its own Mexico beach farmers market where you’ll find everything from homemade kimchi and dog treats to roasted pecans and fresh produce.

Because it’s farther from Nuevo Vallarta, make a day trip on Friday to Sayulita, and start off on Revolución Street, across from the Tanana Gallery, at the seasonal farmers market between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Afterwards, explore the town or even take a surfing class on the beach.

  • Open on: Friday from 10: am to 2:00 pm
  • Season: From November through April

With all these local markets, there’s somewhere new to shop every day, and while the Nuevo Vallarta farmers market is the most convenient for most travelers, it’s worth the drive to explore others, like the Bucerias Market or the La Cruz Farmers Market. You never know what treasures you’ll find!
